My Short but Wonderful Winter Break!

It's been almost a month since I'm back in Melbourne and I am still not used to the "4 seasons in a day" weather :( Likewise, nothing has changed in Melbourne except for the weather! :( Anyway, this semester seems easy-going for me as there is only a research thesis to be completed by October 22nd. Yes, you heard that right. After the 22nd, I'll be free like a bird! :D However, the downside is it's of 30,000 words and there are actually many steps to complete this thesis! Sigh. :( Nonetheless, I have no regrets taking Honours and I actually hope my thesis will be good enough to be published and sold! :)

Boring updates aside, let's move on to my laid back updates which took almost a month to be updated. Enjoy the pictures and don't salivate on your keyboard! P/s: Only quality food pictures will be posted here as this would be an extremely long entry. Have an enjoyable read about what I have to write about Malaysia (mostly KL and PJ- read on and you'll know where these places are!).

Daddy's 60th Birthday Celebrations
We were initially planning to throw daddy a big ass birthday party whereby all his friends and relatives will be invited. However, Mommy Teh strongly banned the idea as there was a custom belief where we are only allowed to heavily celebrate the 60th Birthday when any of their children is married! What nonsense belief is this?? Anyway, we decided to follow suit Mommy's order and Daddy was practically bouncing off his chair the moment he saw me appearing in front of him! Teehee! What's more important than a family reunited? :)

We had three celebrations containing of cake-cutting session at home, birthday dinner at Toh Yuen Chinese Restaurant and buffet lunch at Royale Chulan Hotel. Enjoy the pictures and captions! =)

The table setting

Due to the sudden drop in standard of this restaurant, I will only post pictures of the most delicious dishes we had that night! Such disappointment when it used to be so yummy. :(

Shark fin's soup with crab meat. This was yummy!

And dessert. Yup, now you know why we were so disappointed.

Buffet Lunch @ Warisan Cafe, Royale Chulan Hotel
The buffet lunch serves a variety of international cuisine which gives its diners an advantage of selecting their favourite cuisine :) Standard of food was pretty good considering it is a new, established hotel. Head on over and give it a try already! ;)

Tsk tsk* Someone needs English 101. Momma's name is Katherine, NOT Catherie.

Che che and I =)

Decor of the hotel

Seeing that it was of walking distance to Pavillion, we were too lazy to actually walk which led us to drive over to Pavillion Shopping Centre for more shopping! :P Alice in Wonderland setting at the concourse area of Pavillion.

Then came tea time! :)

Yummy tea time it was. I have been missing these so much that I insisted on having typical Malaysian coffee shop's yummy toast bread with half-boiled eggs accompanied with a cup of Milo :)

Meet up with the Girls @ Sunway & Subang

One fine weekday, I headed to Sunway and Subang to meet up with the girls! After chilling at Serene's place, we decided to head on to the most talked about dessert place, Snowflakes for tea! In my opinion, the dessert were pretty mediocre, nothing to rave about.

Serene and her bubble tea :)

Yours truly with the signature dessert (hot).

We then head on to our all-time favourite place to eat after classes. Yes, BBQ Plaza at Sunway Pyramid, it was.

Yours truly with the corporate lady :P

Yours truly!

One of the many nice dishes. :)

The open-kitchen concept by Shook!

The lovely architecture of Starhill. To those who are planning to make KL as a place to visit, Starhill is definitely one of the famous places located right in the heart of this bustling city!

More of 'em pictures.

And a pic of the chubby Sue!

When it was the season of World Cup and Daddy had to have a picture with the gigantic football :P

Dinner @ Eddy's Cafe & Restaurant, Starhill

We wanted something Malaysian for dinner and this was the only restaurant that offer Malaysian food in Starhill Gallery. Food was decently priced and standard was average. However, hawker food stalls still wins the 1st placing for offering delicious Malaysian delicacies! Below are some of the above average food pictures!

Happy Mommy and Daddy. Love them to death!

The "Sue" Sisters :D

Che che with her not-so-new hairdo :D

Yummy yummy wine chicken soup with vermicelli :D

Delicious wild mushroom soup :D

There were cute little displays of National Geographic at Lot 10.

Yours truly and Daddy!

Tea @ Fisherman's Cove, Starhill
The Fisherman's Cove offers a variety of seafood dishes which guarantees satisfaction for the tummy! Although the price may be a little higher than average, the food definitely promises quality.

Daddy love :D

Yours truly :D

Yummy pumpkin soup for starters

Deep-fried calamaris for starters. For more pictures, head on over to Facebook or the restaurant already! :)

Buffet Lunch at Lemon Garden Cafe, Shangri-la Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Where to go for a buffet lunch or dinner in Kuala Lumpur? The answer definitely is Lemon Garden Cafe, Shangri-La Hotel. This cafe boasts a wide (PLENTIFUL) of selection ranging from starters to dessert. With its top-notch quality, there's got to be a top-notch price to pay for as well. As mentioned, I do not know most of the prices of food that I've eaten but if I'm not mistaken it's definitely above RM100 per person for buffet lunch. Excuse the limited pictures as we were pretty busy bashing our tummies with extremely delicious food ;)

The variety of fresh seafood :) My favourite section!

Extremely mouth-watering chocolate and strawberry fondue towers :)

Another one of my favourite sections :)

More of them goodness :D

Che che enjoying her cup of tea after such a fulfilling meal

Yours truly attacking the desserts!

We went touring around the hotel after food and found this majestic staircase. Ever wanted to walk down the stairs like a princess? You can do it right here! ;P

Huey Sun's Birthday Celebrations at The Curve, Damansara

Why is it birthday celebrations, you may ask? We first headed to The Apartment for dinner. The Apartment's standard of food definitely has deteriorated greatly from the last I visited. The food was pretty atrocious and the worst part came when a friend of mine, Vincci actually found a tiny bit of plastic in her pasta. The restaurant did compensate her by offering her two desserts and tapas. However, such a disappointing visit definitely hinder me from dining there again.

Sue & Serene :)

Huey Sun and Vincci

Probably the best dish for the night and it was complimentary.

After dinner, we then head on the The Library, Cineleisure which is of a minute walking distance from The Curve for drinks. A great place to chill and have a good chat but weekends are definitely a BIG no-no to visit. It was sardine-packed with humans and the noise level was beyond crazy that we had to literally shout into one another's ears as we speak.

Vincci and Serene

Sue and Huey Sun

The girls were getting all excited when the jugs of Carlsberg came!

Cheers to an awesome friendship!

Then came the bottle girls with vodka shots to be sold. This was my treat for the birthday girl and it was the first treat ;)

Then came the second treat named "Dirty F*ck" by Serene. Our mission to make the birthday girl drunk was almost there.

We were being a little more intimate after a couple of beers and shots :)

Our third destination was to Tao which was located a step away from The Library. We had more beers and this time around it was Kilkenny for us. Word of advice: beer offered in Tao is beyond terrible and it tasted very much like chinese medicine. Please stay away if you do not wish to taste anything like chinese medicine.

Our disgusting Killkenny

And... the birthday girl was down! Glad that you enjoyed yourself :)

Dinner with The Babes @ Delicious, Ms. Read
One Utama (1u) in Petaling Jaya is the place I will be most of my every day or weekend. This shopping mall is the place where I dated when I was young, the place where I shop most of the time and the place I grew up with. This time along it was dinner with the girls at Delicious, Ms. Read. Food offered in Ms. Read never ceases to amaze me and due to that, I've also noticed the gradual price increase for every time I pay a visit.

Ju boo ;)

Cheerful Lin-dy

Sweet Roz

And, yours truly :)

Lastly, a group picture!

Random 2 Days 1 Night Trip to Genting Highlands, Pahang

The family suddenly decided to take a drive up to Genting Highlands (another famous tourist attraction) for a two days one night trip. It was more of a foodie and relaxing trip as we've been to all the entertainment parks, casino, theaters and even the cinemas! Lol, another place which I never cease to visit every single year.

Che che means sister in chinese! :)

Yours truly :)

Yummy yummy chinese food @ The Good Friends Restaurant

At First World Hotel lobby.

Sis and I headed to have tea while having to wait for our turn to check-in on a busy weekend. That totally explains the continuous wealth for the Lim Family (founder and owner of The Genting Group)

Che che and I shared a cup of hot chocolate and her favourite quiche as we were still stuffed from lunch :)

Yours truly without makeup. Most of the time back in Malaysia, I was always without any makeup on as I couldn't stand touching up my face for every time the sweltering heat melts my make up. Being natural is always the best, isn't it?

The RM26 sandwich which we took away for our parents. Despite the price, it was HEAVENLY. Try it if you haven't!

We were snapping photos like the average tourists do :)

Daddy, Mommy and Yours Truly :)

Another cup of hot chocolate for supper!

My macho dad! :D

Breakfast on the following day was at Hainan Kitchen. Food was good as usual and I was a satisfied girl after gobbling down all the food.

My favourite dose for breakfast

Yummy Hainanese Chicken Chop which you can hardly (or maybe impossible) find in Australia.

That wraps up my trip back home, Malaysia for the winter break. As much as I'm home sick (missing the family and food!), I'm also glad that I enjoyed myself back at home. *wipes tears. Anyway, hope it was a good read for all of you! Hugs.
